Comment: I have not needed the tracking feature (thank goodness). But I did not use my laptop for an extended period and they sent an email asking for status. That let me know that they do monitor/track my equipment.

Comment: I bought this after reading in the newspaper about a local woman whose home was burglarized. They caught the guy because she had this software on her laptop. I went straight to Amazon.
When your laptop is stolen, you call the company and they work with law enforcement to track down the laptop, which is sending them its gps location via email. Yes, the new "owner" has to get on the internet, but they will get on the internet. I was a little dissapointed to see that I won't be getting the location myself. But I guess they don't want to encourage vigilantism.
The software somehow works even if they re-format your computer. This stuff is ingenius. I love the idea of a laptop thief broadcasting his location.
